Wine of the Weekend

Bread & Butter Chardonnay

One of the newer wines to LCBO shelves has become an instant classic in our humble opinion. This wine hits all the highlights of its style and does a great job representing its entire region, and judging by sometimes empty shelves, more than a few of you share our opinion. Bread & Butter Chardonnay encapsulates everything we love about Cali Chards, and one sip is all it takes. A perfect wine to finish summer with and carry you into the fall, it’s also on sale now, so stock up!

Tasting Notes: With a rich texture and gentle, balanced acidity, this 100% Chardonnay displays lemon cream and stone fruit notes in the glass which echo on your palate with buttered bread and soft vanilla oak notes. The finish lingers between sips, drawing you back for more.

Enjoy With: Pasta in cream sauces, seafood dishes like lobster or crab, grilled fish, chicken or pork, and soft cheeses like brie and camembert.

Style: A dry, full-bodied white wine.

Terroir/Region: Bread & Butter Chardonnay combines the efforts of growers up and down the California coast. The important word here is coast: the vineyards near the ocean benefit from cool air and morning fog that allows the grapes to gradually be exposed to the intensity of the California sun, creating balanced flavour development and preventing sunburn. Yes, grapes can get sunburned!

Producer: The team at Bread & Butter wines started out with the goal of creating your favourite everyday wine, your ‘bread and butter’ so to say. They think that a great wine should be something that does not break the bank, that is delicious enough for you to enjoy at home or be happy to give as a gift, and that is consistent from year to year, so you never have to guess what it will taste like. Goal achieved.

Availability: Bread & Butter Chardonnay can be found in the California section of your local LCBO and is $2.00 off until September 12 giving you plenty of time to go back for more!
