The Labour Day long weekend has arrived! Canada has been celebrating Labour Day since the 1880s after the Toronto Typographical Union went on strike for a 58-hour work week (only 58 hours!) and others joined their protest, leading to a change in union laws. This Labour Day we will be pouring the Santa Julia Del Mercado Malbec, a delicious wine from a winery pushing for harmony and balance in their wines, for their workers, and for their community.
Tasting Note: This wine is 100% Malbec and bursting with flavours of red and black berry fruits like cherries, plums and blackberries, floral touches, and light spices. A soft texture and beautiful overall balance are highlights of this wine.

Producer: Organic agriculture and maintaining natural biodiversity are cornerstones of the Santa Julia winery’s philosophy, as well as the fair treatment of its workers and development of the surrounding community. The winery is certified ‘Fair for Life’ and prioritizes fair working conditions and returns a portion of profits to their workers. The winery has also donated land for schools, put on kids’ camps, and set up a satellite classroom for workers to continue their education at the winery.
