Imitation is one of the sincerest forms of flattery, and with that in mind, we are setting you up with another Chardonnay. This wine follows the style of last week’s Californian Chardonnay (big and rich) but it hails from southern Italy – we said the Cali style became globally recognized and we meant it! The Wanted Chardonnay puts an American spin on a French grape grown in Italy. How is that for global!
Tasting Notes: This is 100% Chardonnay, boasting elegant notes of citrus and tropical fruit salad, brought together magnificently in this big, yet soft, round wine. American oak aging adds complexity and a creamy richness to the wine, carried through a long and persistent finish.
Enjoy With: Rich seafood dishes, roasted chicken, creamy pastas or baked brie with nuts and honey.
Style: A rich, full-bodied, white wine.
Terroir/Region: The Wanted Chardonnay comes from the sun-drenched Italian vineyards of Puglia, the heel of the boot, and Sicily, the island balancing on the toe of the boot. In both regions, hot, dry conditions push the Chardonnay vines to produce ripe, concentrated grapes while sea breezes keep them cool enough to have a balanced acidity. In short, these are the lands of very ripe grapes and soft, juicy wines.
Producer: The Wanted Chardonnay was created by the team at Orion Wines. Although it employs 6 winemakers creating a swiss-army-knife-like winemaking team, Orion Wines was founded by three veterans of the global wine trade with a simple philosophy: produce the best and most interesting wines possible at fair prices. It knew exactly what we wanted.
