Keyfund - Key Notes
Key Message Hannah Eyres

Hello there,

Welcome to the new re-vamped Key Notes newsletter. Just in time for Christmas! I hope you enjoy reading it and that you send us some of your own stories to add in the future. Especially ones about the young people you’re working with.

Our www.keyfund.org.uk website has been re-vamped too. It’s now easier to use and download all the info you need. We’re always on the look out for great case studies, tips and techniques to add into the resource library, so please get in touch if you have any ideas.

Keyfund currently has pots open in Cumbria, Darlington, Durham, London, North Tyneside, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, South Tyneside, Stockton and Sunderland. If you’re working with young people in any of these areas, why not get cracking and start the Keyfund process with them?

Thanks to a fab new grant from One North East, we’re rolling out our Social Licensing Model at full speed. We were successful in gaining funding to recruit 8 new voluntary sector Licensees in the North East. ONE are paying for the licensee fee and pot money for the first year. If you know an organisation that might be interested in partnering with us, just drop me a line.

Thanks for your continued support of Keyfund thoughout 2009 and we’re excited about working with you again in the New Year.

Have a lovely Christmas.

Yours festively, Hannah

Hannah Eyres - Keyfund Chief Executive

Key Information Key Information

At Keyfund we constantly review our processes to ensure that we are doing the best we can to safeguard Young People using Keyfund’s services. In light of this we have amended our policy around CRB checks for Facilitators.

Moving forward we will only accept applications for Keyfund Facilitator Membership from the following people:

  • Those who have an ‘enhanced disclosure’ for working with Young People carried out within the last three years.
  • Those who have an ‘enhanced disclosure’ for working with Young People currently in progress.
  • Those who will submit an application for an ‘enhanced disclosure’ for working with Young People in the immediate future.

In the last two instances we will not certify the use of Keyfund, nor allocate logins for the website, until the enhanced disclosure is completed and details are returned to Keyfund.

Help for Heroes Key People

Keyfund would like to introduce to you…The Heroes.

The Heroes are a group of 3 Young People from Berwick Detachment W Company ACF, Connor Armstrong (14), Greg Hogarth (15) and Nathan Jerdan (18). They have just completed their stage 1 Keyfund with the support of their Facilitator Debra Jerdan, Team Leader of Information & Support Services at Berwick Youth Project.

The group started their project in April 2009 and decided that they would like to use the £250 available from Keyfund to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’.

Connor, Greg and Nathan organised a range of activities including a coffee morning in the Guildhall and a 25 mile overnight sponsored walk. They collected money in tins around local shops and pubs, did a car boot sale and received donations from local and national businesses.
