Message from the Headteacher

Gemma Donnelly

We have all settled in so well to the Braywick Court School family that it is hard to believe that our doors opened for the first time just four months ago! Our first term was full of fun learning activities and at the grand finale, our Naughty Nativity production, the children rose to the challenge and did us all proud.

It is a privilege to work with children who have clearly been raised to value their education and make the most of every opportunity they are given. We are enormously grateful for all the support our families have given us in so many ways, which really helps to make Braywick Court special.

Learning takes place outside the classroom environment as much as within it at Braywick Court and we are incredibly fortunate that we not only have direct access to external teaching spaces, but also have the stunning Nature Reserve on our doorstep. Our Green School education is proving a huge success and is thoroughly enjoyed by the children, whatever the weather! It has been a real pleasure to meet so many of you at our Open Fridays and to give you a taste of the high quality education enjoyed by the children.

Thank you for continuing to follow us on this very exciting journey.

Success from the start

Success from the start

Braywick Court is a nurturing environment that offers a rich, varied and broad curriculum full of arts, drama, sport, music and academic rigour. We believe in building solid foundations in reading, writing and maths and we carefully monitor the education the children receive and their attainment levels every half term.

Every child in our Squirrel Class now knows every single sound from Phase 2 phonics, which teaches 19 letter sounds, some tricky words and how to read and spell some CVC words (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant, e.g. dog). Learning all of this so soon in the school year is a huge achievement.

Congratulations to Miss O’Connell who has been asked by the Local Authority to be a Leading Teacher for RBWM. She will be sharing her outstanding practice and expertise with other schools in the borough. Our excellent reputation is building!

A parent-friendly day

A slightly longer school day starting at 8.40am and finishing at 3.20pm helps parents with more than one school run.

Braywick Court offers flexible wraparound care, with Early Birds available from 7.30am and Evening Owls until 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. Many of our children also participate in our after-school clubs which run from Monday to Thursday and currently include multisports, streetdance and movement, performing arts and craft.

Parent survey

100% of parents who completed our recent survey agreed that their child is happy, taught well and making good progress at Braywick Court.

"Our twins started at Braywick Court in September. They are both extremely happy, have made lots of friends and are excelling academically. I believe this is due to the excellent staff who are caring and nurturing as well as being brilliant teachers. As a working mother I also really appreciate the wraparound care, which is extremely flexible."

"Braywick Court is a very welcoming and nurturing school - it has exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to other parents. The staff are all very friendly and the development of our son since starting school has been amazing - he can already read and write sentences independently."

We understand that the decision-making process requires a great deal of research as there are so many elements to consider and this can be an anxious time for parents, carers and children alike.

We hope that you have all the information you need about Braywick Court. If you have any questions before making your final decision, please do not hesitate to contact Gemma Donnelly at office@braywickcourtschool.org.uk or on 01628 782562.

The Summer Term will include a transition programme for those children offered places with us for September. This will include a home visit and a nursery visit for each child, as well as 'stay and play' sessions at school so that children are fully settled and prepared for their September start. Children will be eased into the new term by attending part-time for the first week in September.

We look forward to seeing many of you again in the spring!

Kind regards
The Braywick Court School Team
