SkeenaWild Conservation Trust The Stream: Your Regional Update

image dsc

December 2015

The year's darkest day is drawing near and while Winter Solstice marks a time of turning inward, less sunlight does not seem to change our lifestyle in the Skeena. Winter steelheading, skating on frozen lakes and ponds and backcountry skiing is just beginning to come into full force during these darker months.

This month, check out our latest ad campaign, find out the winners of the SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival, mark your calendars for our holiday party and get some great ideas for holiday gifts.

From our house to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season and New Year.

Whose Science Do You Believe?

The science speaks for itself.  Be on the lookout for our latest full page advertisement which will be running in NW regional papers over the coming weeks.  It highlights conclusions drawn from two different perspectives: Independent scientists vs. Petronas and Stantec.

Ask yourself, "Whose science do you believe?"

The Votes Are In for the 6th Annual SWFF

Four Northern BC communities cast their votes in the 6th Annual SkeenaWild Film and Photo Festival. Congratulations to the best films and photos of the year. We thought this year's show seriously kicked a$$!  Drum roll please ... Click here for this year's winners and runners-up.

All of our winners (and the runners-up of the film categories) took home some amazing cash prizes or gift packs.  Thanks again to all of our sponsors for your commitment and contributions.  We attribute much of our success to your support.

What's Next?

In the New Year, the film fest will travel to Haida Gwaii, Prince George, Victoria, Prince Rupert, the Sunshine Coast and Cochrane, Alberta for The Best of the Fest: Winter Tour. In addition, it will tour to different schools in Smithers, Terrace, Kitimat, and Victoria.  Kind and supportive volunteers who love the Skeena will host and facilitate these shows for their audiences.
