2017 begins with the opening of my solo exhibition at Capsule Gallery
in Houston, TX on January 13. The exhibition will include new laser etchings that integrate EEG (electroencephalogram) waveforms created during my recent residency at the IMRC digital fabrication labs. Upon my return, I will give an artist talk at the Textile Study Group of NY
on January 18. After a brief digital animation residency at the
Institute for Electronic Arts in February, I will be presenting and participating in the CAA conference panel Entangling Art & Biology: Bioart and Beyond on February 17 where I will be in the company of so many inspiring scholars and artists! The panel is in conjunction with the recent publication of The Routledge Companion to Biology in Art & Architecture edited by Charissa N. Terranova and Meredith Tromble with my work featured in From Materiality to Machines
by Dorothy Santos. Despite the present being fraught with social and political upheaval and uncertainty, I trust that art and activism are a way forward. I am looking forward to attending the Women’s March on Washington on January 21 in support of the (once again) radical notion that women's rights are human rights. I also have an editioned lithograph available on Dose Projects with 100% of sales in January benefiting the
ACLU. I'm truly grateful for the support, growth, conversations and camaraderie last year's opportunities afforded me. I look forward to using the energy and inspiration gleaned in
2016 as a resource for progress and productivity in 2017. Warm Wishes in the New Year!
