To our new Sales Manager, Nicole Geils!

This summer, one of our long-time Sales Managers, Denise Kamm, left the company in pursuit of a unique opportunity Outside. Denise spent five much appreciated years with SMG, including the 2008 opening of Dena’ina, and will be missed. However, life goes on and we are pleased to have found a high caliber replacement in Nicole Geils, a local Alaskan with a background in hotel sales & marketing as well as food & beverage. Nicole will be a great professional contact for current and new clients alike.

First Alaskans Institute Intern: Leann Sommer

The Centers had the honor and privilege over the summer to have Intern Ms. Leann Sommer work and learn about all aspects of a Civic & Convention Center. Leann is from Galena, AK and is a recent graduate from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Tourism and Resort Management this past April. Leann was a fantastic candidate, not just learning from those around her but actually contributing to the efforts of all departments she worked in, from Food & Beverage to Operations and Sales & Marketing. The action-packed eight week program flew by!

We miss Leann already and wish her all the best in what looks to be a very bright future!

Summer is winding down: time to put on gloves!

Boxing gloves, that is. Summer’s fading and the start of a new boxing season is in sight:  “Thursday Night at the Fights” returns to the Egan Center on September 29th. Never attended? Have a look at our new video clip and get inspired!

Remember, you don’t have to be in the Ring to have fun! Watch and cheer the athletes doing their thing while you enjoy a great evening out with friends, a snack and a cold beverage from Concessions!

“I do” at Dena’ina

We’re hearing these wonderful words more and more at Dena’ina. Many couples experienced an awesome “Perfect Day” thanks to planning their wedding, ceremony and reception or dinner with our Beverly Clark Certified Wedding Professional, Christine Gire. We, in turn, are very happy with the rave reviews about our setting, service and culinary highlights.

We are now Weddingwire.com rated, and have started a brand new Flickr account with a growing amount of real & true wedding photos. Last but not least: you can follow Christine’s wedding blog and visit our Dena’ina Weddings Facebook page!

Yes indeed: we are now on Facebook!

In addition to the Dena’ina Weddings page, we have three other Facebook pages: Dena’ina Center, as a forum to post about and discuss events and experiences at Dena’ina. Same for the Egan Center. Last but not least, Anchorage Convention Centers is a page for general Centers issues and the business of event management, a bit more ‘corporate’ if you will.
