Many members of our community experienced devastating loss and displacement as a result of Typhoon Halong in Western Alaska last October. At AHFC, our hearts are with all those affected by the disaster and we stand with you. As part of the statewide response to the 2025 West Coast Storm Disaster, we have been working alongside partners to identify available temporary housing for disaster survivors. AHFC has also stood up a website, AlaskaHousingDisasterRelief.us, to help gather information and resources that can benefit survivors. If you have been impacted by Typhoon Halong, it is crucial that you register for both state and federal individual assistance programs and other forms of assistance. Find more information on these programs. Unfortunately, we know that during tragedies scammers try to take advantage of the sense of urgency felt by those applying for assistance. Our communities are resilient, but no one should face deception during a time of loss. I urge Alaskans, especially survivors of Typhoon Halong, to be alert for online scams falsely claiming to represent AHFC and offering disaster grant money, special payouts, or housing funds. Read this blog post to learn how to spot scams and where to find reputable resources. Despite the real threat of scams, most people have a genuine desire to help. As an Alaskan, I've been proud to see how people across our state and country have jumped in to assist our neighbors. Among those who have responded are Veterans of the U.S. Military who joined other responders to support housing recovery and assist evacuees. We are grateful to these Veterans for their service to our country, both during and after their active duty. I remain thankful for the caring, mission-driven community members and partners who work together to serve our state, not only after disasters but year-round. – Bryan In this newsletter:
