The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon; the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice; and the observer cities Kiev and Yokohama come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility. From Smarter Together Munich A Closer Look at the New Munich SmartCity AppThanks to Smarter Together, Munich is becoming a Smart City – and the popular München App is becoming the Munich SmartCity App, introduced together with the Munich smart innovations that will go into service in 2018 in January. From Smarter Together Lyon Eco-refurbishment Advances in Lyon’s Girard HallWorks for the energy retrofitting of Girard Hall, a former industrial building built in the 19th century, are well under way in order to become a high-energy performance office building. Fostering the Future with InnovationOn 21 February, Michael Ludwig, Executive Councilor for Housing of the City of Vienna and head of Smarter Together in Vienna held a press conference in Simmering, organized on the occasion of the delivery of the third e-car from the e-car sharing programme provided by Smarter Together. Upcoming Events Smarter Together General Assembly 7-9 March - Vienna, Austria Smarter Together will gather along with its project partners for the Smarter Together General Assembly, held in Vienna, Austria, on 7-9 March 2018. More programme details and agenda coming soon. South East European Conference on Smart Cities 27-29 March - Sofia, Bulgaria The topics covered by this Smart Cities event are related to new urban technologies: the digital infrastructure system for citizens to live better; access to information; integrated services like intelligent energy, water, waste and resource management. Lighthouse City Collaboration Workshop 12 April - Lisbon, Portugal The Lighthouse cities from the 12 H2020-funded Lighthouse cities project will gather in Lisbon to collaborate on knowledge sharing and replication strategies, also visiting the newly retrofitted building of Lisbon city within the Sharing Cities programme.
