Workshop 1: Indigenous Workshop Are you passionate about improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and want to connect with others who share this passion from around Australia and overseas? We invite you to connect, share your issues, and work with others to identify opportunities for solutions at the 2016 AHPA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pre-conference workshop. Time: 10:00 – 15:00 Workshop 2: “Honey or Vinegar? How to change politicians’ minds” Presented by Professor Mike Daube AO, Curtin University From Indigenous health issues to more budget for prevention to a sugar tax; there are plenty of election issues to choose from — and on all of those issues, public health advocates push politicians to make a statement and take a side. Time: 10:00 – 12:00 Workshop 3: Intervention research Presented by Associate Professor Deborah Kerr This practical workshop is designed for Health promotion practitioners and researchers who wish to measure diet but are not sure where to start.
Time: 13:00 – 15:00 Workshop 4: Media and New Technology in Health Promotion Part One: This practical two hour workshop will provide an overview of community service announcements, one of the strategies we use to engage communities and service providers and community media in a partnership. Part Two: This session will present a broad overview of the app development process, from idea Attendees will leave with a better idea of the role that mobile technology could play in supporting their health promotion goals.
