"Everyone is really nice, but not necessarily helpful." No images? Click here ![]() Together With Good morning. I checked in with a new leader some time ago. At the time, she was about 60 days into her role leading a Home Care agency. She said something that stuck out to me and, if I'm being honest, sounded like nails on a chalkboard. She said, "everyone is nice, but no one is especially helpful." Ouch. As I probed, it was clear that her onboarding experience was lacking. She wasn't sure what was expected of her and was even more unsure of what processes our company utilized to achieve the expectations. Today we'll dive into how we solved the problem for future new leaders. Plus, be sure to check out primeCLAIMS and how their solution can save your billers time and capture your hard-earned revenue.
Elevate your operation Fast forward a year later, and we have worked hard to revamp our onboarding process and, specifically, how we communicate best practices, standards, and expectations to our leaders. We are good at onboarding leaders to our culture but weren't so good at teaching them how to be successful in their roles. We worked with a combination of new and experienced leaders to determine the best and simplest format to anchor our onboarding. The outcome of that work is our task guide that breaks down the leader's role and function into daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. Essentially, here is how we execute daily to meet our goals and how we complete each task. Each task is linked to an SOP, policy, or guide video breaking down specific steps. The feedback from new leaders has been extremely positive. We are now "nice and helpful," and leaders know what success looks like and how to structure their time. For existing leaders, the task guide has served as a resource to help ensure their time is spent wisely. The peer team of leaders owns their documents and reviews and makes changes annually as a team to ensure it remains relevant. Here is an example of how a Task Guide looks. ![]()
