Brand Optimization

Millennials (age 3 to 28) now make up the largest demographic in the United States. It’s time to pay attention to how and where they communicate and interact with brands. They’re shaping expectations everywhere. These three strategies will help you engage younger audiences.

1) Optimize your website for mobile
In the last five years, mobile usage has exploded. It nearly doubled this year. Early studies showed that by 2014 more people will access the internet by mobile than by desktop. Mobile or mobile-friendly sites are now essential ... not just a trend.

Your website is a critical point of choice for this audience. Make it simple and intuitive ... or you’ll lose visitors. Read more about the importance of mobile on our blog.

2) Be authentic
Millennials crave authenticity and straight talk. They don’t want to be “sold.” In a fascinating article—“How Millennials Think, and What to Do About It”—Brian Halligan states that Millennials are motivated more by a company’s mission than by money; they’re idealistic and want to make the world better. To reach them, clearly communicate who your company is and what you stand for. Be real, be clear and tell your story.

3) Help them find you
Millennials don’t want to be force-fed; they want to open the refrigerator and find their own food. And they’re pros at blocking out unwanted messages. To be more effective, focus on an inbound marketing strategy. Offer valuable content they’re searching for online, and they’ll find you.
