Not only do outfitters need to determine which countries are open to travel (and should be visited), but also how to maneuver the shifting landscape of entry and exit rules. So, for those like us anxious to get back at it, you will likely see a trickle of countries opening, and not a big wave of world travel. Below you can find a list of the places we are currently visiting, a new destination and plans for the winter.
Trekking In Northern Pakistan 2022Join guide, Eric Murphy and Director of Programs, Gordon Janow to hike and explore the stunning regions of Northern Pakistan. Steeped in climbing lore and tremendous natural beauty we trek to the base camps of Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi before moving to the Shangri La of Hunza Valley. Along with the breathtaking natural terrain we explore the multi cultured history of the region and step into a far less traveled portion of the Himalaya. This will be a small group team as we look to introduce you to this region in a very personal manner. Details and photos at: (Please note early interest has been very strong, so please sign on early as we are taking a small team.) Kilimanjaro Summer 2021 And BeyondProbably one of the most dearly missed programs, we are happy to announce our Kilimanjaro expedition is back up and running. We’ve done the legwork and can assist with all entry requirements as a well as prepare you for return to the US. Excited is an understatement as we will be launching both our classic Machame route climb and 2 Lemosho variations. These next 18 months should be an excellent time to climb as we look to see low numbers on the mountain. Join an extraordinary team of guides such as Eric Murphy, Kristie Kayle, Paul Koubek and Ben Jones. Our first trip was just completed and we are pleased to say, still running like clockwork! See Kilimanjaro for details Alps - Mont Blanc & The MatterhornWe are pleased to be going forward with our August and September departures for both the Matterhorn and Mt. Blanc programs. The Mt. Blanc climbs are based out of the famed Tete Rousse Hut. For this season huts are on first come basis, so we will use Switzerland’s highest peak Monte Rosa as a backup climb if we cannot get a hut. Monte Rosa is a challenging and beautiful climb in its own right, and August should be an excellent time for a re-entry into international climbing. More at: Peru TreksOne of our favorite trekking locations, our treks are set to depart in July and we hope to see this wonderful journey get back to “normal” quickly. Our Salkantay Trek features big mountain trekking with small boutique lodges at night and the Sacred Valley Trek trek focuses on day hikes and lesser traveled areas to spectacular ruins and finely appointed hotels. All trips culminate with a guided tour of the famed Macchu Picchu ruins. Upcoming This Winter - South AmericaWe are looking forward to this winter with the anticipated opening of Argentina, home of Aconcagua, and Chile, our launching point for Vinson in Antarctica. Argentina is scheduled to have full or partial vaccination completed by early fall and we are hoping the same for Chile. Ecuador has already re-opened as we look to run our standard winter season as well. Please check our website for the latest openings as we have been adding trips (when possible) due to very heavy early registrations. See more below: Aconcagua - Offering both Vacas Valley and Normal Route. Vinson - Space very limited for upcoming season. Ecuador - One of our signature programs, a fantastic climbing and cultural experience. Mexico Volcanoes - Big volcano climbs, close to the US and a great “get ready for Denali” expedition. Nepal Fall, Spring and OnwardInternational flights have returned to Kathmandu, as the vaccine roll out is gaining steam! We are anxious for the fall and spring season. Our fall offerings include Everest Base Camp Trek, Island Peak and Mera Peak. Spring of 2022 we will be offering our Everest summit climb with our Everest Trek (1 departure already full) and Island Peak. Our Everest Base Camp trek is open to all fit enthusiasts and 2021/22 should be a great time to visit Nepal. Those who want to get some climbing in can top off the Everest trek with a summit attempt of Island Peak. If you are looking for a more remote trek and more challenging climb, Mera Peak is a fantastic journey this fall season. All set to be led by the team of Tejas and Tejas! Info at: Denali 2021 & 2022As the Denali 2021 season comes to an and, we were looking at a 91% team success rate until the last departures got turned back after braving poor weather at high camp. An outstanding season overall! Our 2022 dates for Denali and Alaska courses are posted on our site but please note some dates are full and others filling fast. And Here On The Home FrontLets start with a big thanks to all who joined us thus far and who are joining us this season.
