Greetings Pilot!

Another successful show season came to an end last week with our exhibit at the National Business Aviation Association Convention, but the business of product development continues here at ForeFlight. The opportunity to visit with you in person at events throughout the year is a vital way for us to receive direct feedback and continually improve our product and service to you.

In this newsletter, we share details about two recent updates, 5.4.2 and 5.4.3, which introduce new features like cockpit sharing, as well as a host of general refinements and fixes. We also have a new video that explains the flight alerts feature.

Flight alerts how-to video

Flight alerts is a ForeFlight Pro feature. Flight alerts notify you when air traffic control issues an expected route for an IFR flight plan filed using ForeFlight Mobile. When expected route information becomes available from ATC, ForeFlight sends a notification of that route information directly to your iPad and your iPhone. Watch the video for a full illustration:

How to upgrade

Flight alerts is part of our ForeFlight Pro subscription, available for $149.99 per year. If you currently subscribe to ForeFlight Standard, take advantage of flight alerts, as well as other great features only available at the Pro level, by upgrading today. Additional Pro only features include: geo-referenced approach plates and airport diagrams, hazard advisor, plates on maps, annotations on procedures and documents, and cloud-based document sharing via dropbox.

Cockpit sharing

Cockpit sharing is available with ForeFlight Mobile 5.4.2 for Standard and Pro subscribers. This feature allows for easy route sharing between crew members via WiFi. Stay in sync by connecting devices to the same WiFi network and using the route builder 'send to' button to share the route with your crew or your backup device. Cockpit sharing works great with the first and second generation Stratus for connecting multiple devices on a WiFi network. Here are some screenshots of cockpit sharing in action:

Live flight tracking links, route editor refinements, and more

In addition to cockpit sharing, we released a number of refinements and features that enhance decision making and improve the overall user experience. Highlights include links to Flight Aware's live flight tracking service, a redesigned route edit bubble action menu, and the recently updated FAA aircraft equipment codes for flight plan filing. Here are some screenshots of several new features:

In the Airports page, a new Flight Tracking option in the 'more' tab links to Flight Aware's live flight tracking service. WiFi internet or cellular connection is required for this feature.	In the route editor, the current wind report is now shown in the runway selector tool when setting up a traffic pattern entry.
In the route editor, the route element bubble popover has been redesigned for easier navigation.	In the aircraft profile set up, the list of equipment codes has been updated to reflect recent FAA changes.
