Wine of the Weekend

The Beachhouse Rosé

Summer has officially started and there is no better way to finish the first week than with a cool glass of rosé! Like many other people, rosé has become our go-to in warmer weather. With plenty of options when it comes to style and sweetness, you can pick your rosé to match your meal or your mood. This week, we’re going sweet and spicy – The Beachhouse Rosé will provide a touch of sweet, alongside chicken wings in our favourite spicy sauce. What will you match your Beachhouse Rosé with?

Tasting Notes: The Beachhouse Rosé is 100% Pinotage, the signature grape of South Africa. This wine leads with aromas of red cherries, strawberries and rose petals which are reflected on the palate along with juicy raspberries and hints of Turkish delight. It’s delicious from the first sip through the lingering finish.

Enjoy With: Thai dishes, sushi, smoked salmon bagels, pasta carbonara, smoked chicken salads, spicy chicken wings or BBQ burgers.

Style: An easy drinking, refreshing rosé with a touch of sweetness.

Terroir/Region: The Western Cape region of South Africa is composed of several smaller districts, each with their own microclimates and winegrowing strengths. Blending these regions can create very well-rounded wines when done properly. These diverse landscapes also support the Cape Floral Kingdom, which has the highest known concentration of plant species in the world!

Producer: The Beachhouse is made by Douglas Green Wines, one of the long-standing, modern wine companies in South Africa (the ‘older’ wineries can date back to the 1600s). Douglas Green started the company over 75 years ago with an extensive knowledge of the Cape’s wine regions, a great understanding of blending wines, and a unique ability to tune-in to consumer desires. He definitely got this one right!
