Newsletter April 2014

Greetings Polar Explorers!
It’s time for the monthly update on our trips and adventures!

Early on in the month of May we start our crossing of Greenland, West to East. We have been preparing for a long time for this expedition, and the team is now ready to go. Follow the blog when we get going, it should be a great adventure.
If you couldn’t make it to Greenland this spring, we recommend our autumn trip, Greenland, East to West. We do this the opposite way, due to weather and ice conditions, the same direction as Fridtjof Nansen did in 1888. Quite a bit harder crossing than the spring trip due to the conditions in the icefalls - but even more scenic! Check Greenland Fall photos here. This is the choice of those who wants to go on to even bigger things… (25 days in August / September)

If you are sorry you missed out on Greenland, it still is time to prepare for one of our most interesting summer trips: the crossing of the Island of Nordaustlandet at the end of July. This is a real adventure. Not only do we cruise out in a sailboat through the famous Svalbard archipelago while observing lots of local wildlife, we ski across some of the largest icecaps in Europe. It’s a route first explored by us a few years back, and now we are doing it again. (16 days in July - August). Follow this link to Nordaustlandet video and beautiful Nordaustlandet photos !

In the month of August, our kayak trip in Svalbard goes ahead. It’s the same archipelago, but from a different perspective. We take advantage of the favourable summer conditions, will glide along the fjords in our double kayaks with all necessary equipment and sleep in the wildest of surroundings. There are still 2 places available on this trip. (8 days in early August)

In November we find spring in the southern hemisphere while heading back to one of our favourite parts of the world. It’s time for the crossing of the Northern Patagonia Icecap. Wild, untouched and challenging, in beautiful surroundings, it is truly a multi-adventure! See some Patagonia photos here! We trek, carry, ride horses and use boats to cross lakes, we ski, negotiate dramatic icefalls, walk in rainforest and sail the fjords. (22 days in October- November)

It is also time to start focusing on Antarctica, whether it is the South Pole last degree trip, or join on an epic adventure up the Axel Heiberg Glacier to the South Pole. This route has been done only by a few since Roald Amundsen went up there as the first in 1911.

We recently finished our “Polar academy trips”: The Finnmark crossing, and have posted some photos from this trip here and we are already opening up for Finnmark 2015 bookings.

And just this past week end we succesfully completed a new trip: Kayak in Steigen. This is a  perfect short trip to learn about safe Arctic kayaking, or just to enjoy the beautiful Lofoten area before the tourist season starts and it is peaceful and quiet. See Steigen photos here!

Our North Pole last degree and 3 day adventure trip will go as planned around 10th of April. You can follow this trip on the blog here, or check North Pole last year's photos at this link

Are you ready to spoil yourself with a real challenge, dream and adventure? If so, please don’t hesitate to write or call us, we will be happy to help!
