How do you spot an NHA without someone telling you they're an NHA?Here is what I've come up with. The posture of an NHA Eyes up. Worn shoes. Meets you at eye level, even if that means kneeling. Stoic and confident. Presence without saying a word. Leans in. No excuses. First to show up. Last to leave.
Elevate your operation I have meetings on my calendar that I dread attending. I actually look for excuses not to. There are also meetings on my calendar that I look forward to. They're efficient and wildly productive. I'm embarrassed to admit that I am also the organizer of some of the meetings I dread. Have you ever considered what defines the two and what you can do to prevent hosting or attending a meeting that everyone dreads? Let's break down the Dos and Don'ts of an effective meeting. Do make sure every meeting you attend or schedule has an agenda that's shared ahead of time and defines the amount of time for each agenda item. Don't allow reoccurring meetings to be scheduled on your calendar without good reason. Don't allow a meeting to occur without an apparent moderator identified. Know who is in charge of keeping the conversation going. *The moderator should never be the most senior team member in the meeting, or you risk stifling productive conversations. Do make sure someone other than the meeting owner is collecting feedback from team members on the effectiveness of the meeting, especially if it's a meeting that reoccurs. Don't let a meeting be scheduled without pre-work being clearly defined and distributed with plenty of notice. If pre-work isn't needed, it's a good sign that the "meeting" should instead be a memo or an email. Pre-work should have clearly identified owners with accountability to have the work done and ready for the meeting. Do make sure every meeting has a desired outcome identified on the agenda. Don't let one or two people suck the air out of the room. You know who they are, and the moderator should be prepared to politely cut them off and solicit feedback from more reserved team members. Don't allow meetings to begin and end on the hour. Do start the meeting on time. Following these Dos and Don'ts will make your meetings wildly productive. What would you add to the list?
