It’s the time of year to start talking more about our go-to weeknight wines. These are the wines that pop out of the fridge for a glass after work or to sit on the dinner table as the meal arrives, so versatility in food pairing is a must, and it better taste great on its own too. Oh, and it can’t break the bank. That’s a tall order, which is why we were happy to find the Spinelli Unoaked Chardonnay – our new weeknight white!
Tasting Notes: Hitting all of Chardonnay’s big fruit notes and laying off the vanilla and oak spices, the Spinelli Chardonnay bursts with melon, apple, pear and even some tropical notes. This fruit salad is accented by a mineral note and bright acidity, key in making this a versatile wine for food pairings.
Enjoy With: Perfect for starters like salads, veggie platters, or shrimp cocktails, as well as poultry dishes, fish and seafood, and soft cheeses.
Style: A dry, light-to medium bodied, and fruity white wine.
Terroir/Region: In the Italian region of Abruzzo, the province of Chieti has a unique placement between the Majella National Park and the coast, making it a natural fit for wine production. The mountains and forest of the national park funnel cool air into the lowlands, while sea breezes move inland, creating a pocket of cool air under the bright Italian sun, perfect for growing Chardonnay!
