It was fifty years ago that NASA’s Apollo 11 took humans to the moon. Upon the return voyage, the command module Columbia was travelling at a speed of 25,000 MPH as it entered the earth’s atmosphere. The spacecraft’s heat shields protected the astronauts from temperatures of 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit by deflecting and absorbing the extreme heat. NASA said that the Columbia, for a short time, would have resembled a flaming orange ball of fire!
Dalla Lana School of Public Health
Annual ReportThe University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health challenged H&W to create an annual report that would present their stories in a fresh way. Using a reportage approach, their research is told from a first-person point-of-view, making the content even more compelling. A large format publication, printed on newsprint, reinforces the veracity of their hard-hitting stories concerning drug overdosing, anti-vaccination and social isolation. The unique design and imagery supports Dalla Lana’s urgent mission to tackle the greatest health issues impacting society.

School Mental Health Ontario
Visual IdentitySchool Mental Health Ontario (SMHO) works together with Ontario school districts to support student mental health. H&W has been working with SMHO to refresh their materials as this vital support network increases in size and importance. Our partnership began with the creation of a new visual identity. Based on an asterisk, it symbolizes something noteworthy – calling attention to the transformational energy and effective solutions offered by SMHO.

Osgoode Hall Law School
View Book The brand new view book for Osgoode Hall Law School is just off press, and has met with rave reviews. "We are sure that no other Canadian law school has anything that comes even close. In fact, I wonder if there are universities that have something this good,” says Anita Herrmann, Director, External Relations & Communications. Working with writers Doug Dolan and Amy Langstaff, we re-envisioned the content strategy, voice, visual presentation and structure for the book. With Chris Nicholls, we shot fresh portraits of students and the school resulting in a view book that captures the Osgoode ethos: that
they see the law as more than a set of rules; it’s a journey that takes you from identifying big challenges to creating meaningful impact.
