Lung Cancer

     
 

Lung cancer is diagnosed in around 44,500 people every year in the UK and has become one of the commonest and serious types of cancer.


Lung cancer doesn't usually cause noticeable symptoms until it's spread through the lungs or into other parts of the body. This means the outlook for the condition isn't as good as many other types of cancer.

 

Overall, about 1 in 3 people with the condition live for at least a year after they're diagnosed and about 1 in 20 people live at least 10 years.

Mindfulness Meditation

     
 

The concept of Mindfulness is originally described way back in the bible and is a fundamental principle in Buddhism however mindfulness can help everyone, with or without any religious beliefs.

 

Mindfulness helps us to recognise and become more aware of our thought streams and feelings and in understanding their patterns enables us to better control them rather than letting them control us.

 

An increased awareness can allow earlier recognition of symptoms of stress and anxiety and allow us to deal with them more effectively.

Is having no social life as bad for you as smoking?

     
 

If you were to be asked, how often to you see friends or family? Do you go to any social groups, sports club or church groups regularly? What would you say? Would you answer rarely?

 

Social isolation puts us at greater risk of mental health issues and is now considered as bad for our health as not exercising or even as bad as smoking!


Studies have shown that if you haven’t got friends, family or community ties, your chance of dying early may be 50% higher than if you did.
