Welcome to our summer email and it’s been a hectic few months to say the least. Working twice as hard for half as little, but not surprising due to what has been going on in the financial markets over the last 6 months. It’s been a lot of effort and much of it towards tenders we’ve been invited in on. Not something we love to be honest, but fortunately for us, some were paid tenders... always a good thing!
This particular project was for Blackpool Council Arts Dept. An idea was needed to cover a 90m hoarding surrounding the Old Yates Wine Lodge that burnt down earlier this year. Working with Alice Hawkins, Artist/Photographer the hoarding was to show and reflect the real folk of Blackpool. Our design also included an 8x1mx2.5m section of mirrors on the Talbot Road end of the hoarding.
The idea behind the mirrors was for the viewer to put themselves in context of the concept, therefore becoming a part of the Blackpool narrative for that moment.
Wash were short listed down to the last three from many applicants of artists and designers across the North West. Unfortunately that was as far as we got, but a good effort all round.

This little project was for a local guy who has bought into an old business that has been in Preston for over 50yrs. He wanted to rebrand and remind people of their history and craftsmanship. He soon realised we too are very passionate about our craft, so we hit it off from the start.
Only a low budget project, but a lovely execution all the same. A simple design using foil block on the business cards, gave it the feel he was after. With some simple photography and a clean website he has set his stall out. If you need a great looking fireplace. We recommend...

Apart from being featured in the local business press, we’ve been placed on another design blog site and have been featured once again in the drum. Thanks chaps.

Ideas have started flowing for a new campaign push for Bolton Community College 2009/2010.
We wanted to endorse the new logo by showing how it represents the four markets coming together under one roof. We had the pieces made out of polished acrylic. Let’s now see what we do with them next? |

This is an ongoing programme that is repositioning the new brand values and ethos of the college literally from the ground up.
It’s not just the press they are all over, but already the college is out there with a roadshow going to schools, business and communities informing of the new college to come.
The message... Get on board! |

And no construction site is complete without the fancy hoarding. Another great opportunity to give the new brand a platform. |

Our photo shoot down at Cobham Hall School went as well as it could have done under battle conditions.
We have some fantastic results as we wanted to focus on the architecture of the hall. Stunning.
Using the Hasselblad HD3II 50 megapixel camera and introducing the first Linhoff 23mm Rodenstock lens to the country. |

We’ve currently rolling out a new project for Cornerhouse bar in Manchester. Everything needed to be set up as templates so the client could update on a regular basis.
The idea was to create a menu that people could take away with them. We worked out a way that the menus could also double as flyer/poster advertising the adjoining cinema and on going events. A stationery embosser was supplied so labels could be produced as and when.

And finally our latest project is just hitting the high streets now. Window dressing Blackpool town centre’s empty shops, that have become more noticeable after many stores have relocated to the new Hounds Hill Shopping Centre in the town.
Rather than have blank empty shops the plan is to dress the windows with eye catching non descript ‘retailyesque graphics’. |
