The New Year’s Day deadline until New Jersey’s constitutional amendment authorizing recreational marijuana takes effect is fast approaching, along with the final scheduled legislative voting session of the year. Lawmakers have reached a deal on a bill that will launch a legal marijuana industry in New Jersey, clearing a path for the bill to pass later this month. A deal has been reached on marijuana legalization, setting it up for final legislative passage next week, though some details of the agreement – in particular, how it will be governed in the workplace – have not yet been revealed.
