Welcome to the latest edition of news from the Smarter Together project, a member of the EU Horizon 2020 research program. The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon as well as the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility.

 A European Visit: Flexible Ride Sharing for Smart Mobility

To start off the new year, several members of the European Parliament visited Munich's Westkreuz district to learn about the new and flexible ride sharing service that is adaptable to citizen's needs, as well as other integrated mobility services developed within Smarter Together. Intelligent Lighting in Freiham North

The City of Munich is investigating new lighting technologies in a field trial as part of the EU project "Smarter Together" in the Freiham North district. To learn ore about the lamposts and how they are providing adaptive, on-demand lighting, click here.

Refurbishment Progress in Lyon Confluence​

Smarter Together in Lyon has been hard at work with renovations on the social housing complex Cité Perrache, the biggest energy retrofitting project in the Lyon-Confluence area, as well as the recently completed H7 building, formerly known as Girard Hall. Click here to learn more.

 
 

New Parking Garage for Lyon Confluence

Recently, SPL Lyon Confluence has finished building a new underground car-park that has a total of 840 parking places across five floors, including 20 charging stands for electric vehicles. To learn more about Smarter Together's ongoing and future role in the project, click here.

 Vienna Hosts Housing for All - The International Conference

Opening up the smart city: open governance, data and people

More than 100 urban change-makers from across Europe came together in Vienna for the 6th edition of the Informed Cities Forum. The event gathered a mix of stakeholders for a rich learning experience and exciting debates. For more information on this event, click here.

Sustainable Urban Mobility Congress

20-21 February - Bilbao, Spain  The Euskalduna Conference Centre will be holding the Sustainable Urban Mobility Congress - SUM Bilbao 19, the first edition of an international event, led by the City Council of Bilbao.

 
 

 European Smart Projects Summit

26-27 March - San Sebastian, Spain  Replicate project will host the SCC1 Lighthouse projects event on 26 and 27 March 2019. The project is chairing the Coordination and Dissemination and Communication activities of the 14 projects during the first semester of 2019.

 

South-East European Smart Cities Exhibition & Conference

16-18 April - Sofia, Bulgaria Among the leading specialized exhibitions in the SEE Region that presents building IT management systems; smart home appliances; smart city mobility solutions; integrated services for the population like intelligent energy, water, waste and resource management.

 SCIS Smart City Roadshow Competition

Applications are now open to cities from EU funded Smart City projects for the SCIS Smart City Roadshow. SCIS will organise a one-day in selected cities, and provide a platform to engage with local stakeholders & residents about project goals and activities, while at the same time introduce the Smart City Information System (SCIS).
