LTF 2017 is loading and we are so excited we want to share! We have a varied line to thrill you this year whatever your interests.

 

 
 

Opening Symposium (28 February)

The festival starts with a half-day symposium to discuss all things theatre! Chaired by the Honourable Minister for Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, there will be speakers from the theatre sector in the UK and Nigeria and lively debate about what we need for the theatre sector in Nigeria to grow. Venue: VIP Hall, National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. Time: 10am – 2.30pm

There is always an opportunity to learn something new and our LTF workshops give you a chance to do so!

LTF Seminars (01 March)

This year, our seminar series will focus on selling your work abroad.
• A taste of Theatre facilitated by Victor Gulley. 1 March.
An introduction on using Apps for accessing theatre shows. Just like movie previews or trailers provide the public with insight about the movie they intend to see, A Taste of Theater does the same thing for live theater allowing playwrights to give the audience a “TASTE” of their play. LTF Seminar (02 March)

• Theatre Management Seminar. 02 March
A full day workshop on developing sustainable theatre projects and businesses. This seminar will feature sessions on developing your work for an International Audience facilitated by the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM) and Bolanle Austen-Peters. Attendance is free but pre-registration is required. Register to attend any of the sessions here

 
       
 

Young Critics Programme

In partnership with the International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC) and Guardian Newspapers Nigeria we will train and mentor 20 young writers and journalists (aged 18 to 35) in theatre criticism. Participants will be inducted into IATC afterwards and benefit from further professional development opportunities around the world. For information on see here

 
       
 

Festival Management Training

We love festivals so we want to support Nigerian and West African festivals to grow! Our festival management programme will offer training, mentoring and regional / international exchange to managers of arts and culture festivals.
The first workshop in the programme will take place on 1 and 2 March.

Performances

And shows! It is after all a performing arts festival. There will be lots and lots of shows. We have 40 companies in the festival from Nigeria, UK, USA and South Africa with performances ranging from music, drama, spoken word, and comedy to experiential theatre all with the overriding theme – Rhythm of the City.
