Albert Bichot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge 2015

Albert Bichot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge 2015

Red wine on a hot day? Yes, red wine on a hot day. Let’s all take a hint from the bars of the Mediterranean this summer and take a light red wine, like the Albert Bichot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge 2015, pop it into the fridge for 30 or 40 minutes, and pour yourself a glass on the patio. We are aiming for 13 to 14 degrees Celsius so the chill brings additional freshness to the wine, tightens the structure, and emphasizes the fruit, while downplaying the alcohol. Cheers to that!

Tasting Notes: Bichot Coteaux Bourguignons is a blend of Burgundy’s two red grapes, Pinot Noir and Gamay which give fruity and spicy notes of red cherry, red currant, liquorice and a touch of rose petal.

Enjoy With: Red meat dishes of all kinds, roasted or grilled poultry, and mild cheeses.

Style: A dry, juicy, medium-bodied red wine.

Terroir/Region: Burgundy, France is a storied region with a long history, and it continues to evolve. In 2011, the Coteaux Bourguignons appellation was created giving a new name to the blending of Pinot Noir and Gamay from throughout the region. This allows winemakers to focus on the freshness and fruitiness of these two grapes and gives them the ability to draw on several different vineyards to create the ideal blend.

Producer: The Bichot family began its wine trade in 1831 and the company’s namesake, Albert, was the family’s third generation in the business. Albert brought new momentum to the family’s business in France and his son (Albert as well) took their wines to the world. Now the fifth generation (including the third Albert) carries the business forward, focusing on organics and expanding its properties while upholding the family’s reputation for quality.
