Preparing for Finals Week Workshop

Don't miss your last chance to get help preparing for finals from CGS staff! In this workshop, you'll learn to predict exam questions, develop an understanding of different test formats, and complete practice questions.

End-of-Term Survival Kits

The CGS Student Government will be distributing End-of-Term Survival Kits to students next week beginning on Monday, December 8. Stop by CGS for a little finals' week pick-me-up!

important dates & Deadlines

End of Term Dates

  • Friday, December 5: End of fall term (last day of undergraduate day classes); CGS, graduate, and evening classes will continue to meet through December 13 (final examinations will be held during the last scheduled class meeting)
  • Friday, December 5: Last day for continuing students to register for the spring term without penalty
  • Monday, December 7 through Saturday, December 13: Final examination period for undergraduate day classes
  • Saturday, December 13: FALL TERM ENDS; official date for degrees awarded in the fall term
  • Monday, January 5, 2015: Spring term classes begin

December Graduation Ceremony

This is a reminder to any student attending December's Graduation Recognition Reception and Ceremony that tickets must be picked up at the CGS front desk before the day of the event (December 12.) For more information, check our Graduation page. Questions can be directed to Jillian Rodgers.

Paid Writing Internships

Are work obligations or living expenses getting in the way of you landing your dream writing-intensive internship? If so, you could qualify for a grant to help you with your financial needs. In collaboration with Pitt's English Department, CGS students are invited to apply for an opportunity to be paid for a writing internship. Interested students should talk to their CGS advisor.

Academic Achievement Scholarship

Have you been invited to attend a conference to present research or a project but not sure how to afford the travel? CGS can help! We are accepting applications for our Academic Achievement Scholarship. If you qualify, this scholarship could cover the cost of your travel and conference fee. See our Web site for the scholarship requirements and application.

Toys for Tots

The Office of Veterans Services is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Marine's Toys for Tots annual drive until December 12. Help Toys for Tots reach its goal this year. Toys can be dropped off in the OVS office, located in the CGS suite.
