No images? Click here Hello, With Cook County and Chicago facing the coldest temperatures in two years, warmth and shelter are more important than ever for those experiencing homelessness. Below are resources available in Oak Park, Chicago and Cook County. The three warming centers closest to Oak Park are at Rush Oak Park Hospital, Garfield Community Service Center and in Riverside Township. See below for all locations as we know them. RUSH OAK PARK OPERATING EMERGENCY WARMING CENTER: Rush Oak Park Hospital operates an emergency warming shelter. It is located at 520 S Maple Ave.; enter through the old emergency room on the east end of the hospital on Wisconsin Ave. The center operates seven days a week from 8am to 6am; it is closed for two hours for cleaning and sanitation. Anyone who enters the hospital will have their temperature screened. There is also a universal masking policy in effect at the hospital. CHICAGO WARMING AREAS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: When temperatures are at 32 degrees or below – warming areas are available at the City’s six community service centers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Garfield Community Service Center at 10 South Kedzie, is open on a 24-hour basis to connect families and residents to emergency shelters. For assistance after hours, residents should call 311 to be connected to available services – including placement to an available shelter bed. Englewood Community Service Center Garfield Community Service Center Dr. Martin Luther King Community Service Center North Area Community Service Center South Chicago Community Service Center Trina Davila Community Service Center COOK COUNTY WARMING CENTERS: The warming center in Riverside Township is the closest Cook County location to Oak Park, located at 27 Riverside Road.
