CSJ SUBMITS EVIDENCE TO CHILD POVERTY BILL COMMITTEE
The CSJ submitted evidence to the Child Poverty Bill Committee in Parliament last week. Charlotte Pickles, CSJ Senior Policy Advisor, joined CSJ Alliance Partner Edna Speed CBE of Save the Family and others who submitted evidence. Charlotte argued that the Child Poverty Bill should take a wider view of child poverty, not just measured by relation to median income and viewing the child in isolation, but rather to look at other factors keeping people trapped in poverty and considering the child in the context of their family. CSJ ALLIANCE GROWS
The CSJ Alliance is the growing group of voluntary groups identified by the CSJ as exceptional in their efforts to reverse poverty in their local communities. The CSJ is now communicating regularly with over 430 voluntary groups across the UK. Chris Bullivant, CSJ Projects Director, visited the Attlee Foundation in East London last week to see the work they are doing within the local community and, in particular, their work among the Bangladeshi community, pictured with Tracy Fletcher, CEO. The visit was a follow up meeting after Iain Duncan Smith, CSJ Chairman, gave their Attlee Memorial Lecture in May 2009.

CSJ AT CONFERENCE
The CSJ hosted 27 fringe meetings and roundtables at the Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrat Party Conferences this month with well over 1,500 guests attending in total. The Conservative Party Conference fringe meetings were described by the Guardian as "among the most well attended at Conference" where highlights included the flagship policy events on Family with David Willetts MP, Education with Michael Gove MP and Welfare Reform with Theresa May MP and Lord Freud.
