Tasting Notes: The 2018 Mon Frère Cabernet Sauvignon is a juicy, fresh expression of the grape with an added kick from a splash of Malbec – Cabernet does love a good blending partner. Plum and blackberry greet your nose along with hints of fresh flowers and the flavours of ripe forest berries. Oak spices are delivered with a bold mouth feel and structured tannins that linger through the finish.
Enjoy With: Richly flavoured dishes like steak or roast beef, lamb burgers, pasta dishes, rich sauces and ripe cheeses.
Style: A dry, full-bodied fruity red wine.
Terroir/Region: Mon Frère Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from some of the most famous regions in California: Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lodi and Paso Robles. All these sources add layers of ripeness, fruit, acidity, texture and structure to the final wine, but it is up to the winemaking team to harness and balance their qualities.
Producer: Mon Frère’s winemaker, Tom Hinde, normally makes Cab from legendary vineyards atop mountains in Napa and Sonoma, fetching prices just as high.
