A-PHY is the first asymmetric, industry-standard, long-reach SerDes physical layer interface for automotive applications. MIPI DevCon Delivers Virtual Education in Mobile and Beyond This event will include two days of complimentary education from the developers and implementers of MIPI standards and you'll also learn more about new specifications such as MIPI A-PHY℠ and the forthcoming MIPI Security. Visit the MIPI DevCon Agenda page to learn more about the presentations and speakers. MIPI working groups are making progress in replacing the objectionable terms "master" and "slave" in all active specifications and supporting documents by the end of 2022. This initiative was the result of a four-month, member-driven process that included evaluating existing documents and soliciting input from members. New Versions of MIPI DSI-2, C-PHY and D-PHY AdoptedMIPI recently released new versions of its Display Serial Interface 2 specification and two physical layer specifications. The following are now available to Alliance members: · MIPI DSI-2℠ v2.0 delivers significant improvements to the user experience while boosting power savings across far-reaching application spaces such as mobile, automotive and gaming. When coupled with the most recent versions of the MIPI C- and D-PHY physical interfaces, it also offers twice the bandwidth over the previous version. Read more. · MIPI D-PHY℠ v3.0 doubles the data rate of the specification's standard channel to 9 Gigabits per second (Gbps), while extending the power efficiency of the specification for smartphone, Internet of Things (IoT), and automotive camera and display applications. Read more. · MIPI C-PHY℠ v2.1 provides high throughput and superior power efficiency to connect displays and cameras to application processors. A new 64-bit PHY Protocol Interface (PPI) in v2.1 provides a wider bus between C-PHY and a chip’s core logic for better support of higher-performance applications. Read more. New White Paper Introduces MASS MIPI Alliance has published a new white paper, "An Introductory Guide to MIPI Automotive SerDes Solutions (MASS)," which provides an overview of MIPI’s standardized in-vehicle connectivity framework for high-performance sensors and displays. The paper explains how the Alliance is addressing automotive requirements with MASS and outlines how these solutions will help automakers integrate new and emerging safety features using the latest camera, lidar and radar systems. The Zhaga Consortium is hosting this online event on 29 September, 15:00 – 18:00 CEST with speakers from national authorities, cities, industry association, lighting design and manufacturing. The target audience are manufacturers of lighting products and specifiers, users and investors of smart city and building lighting installations. Recent NewsDigital Illumination Interface Alliance

Special Contribution: Maria PalombiniDirector, Emerging Communities & Opportunities Development; Healthcare Life Sciences Practice Lead, IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA)How to Build Trust in the Internet of Medical Things and Wearables?Free On-Demand Webinars Discuss Challenges in Validating and Trusting the Use of Connected Wireless Medical Devices to Improve Healthcare for PatientsIn today’s healthcare ecosystem, there are millions of connected wireless medical devices powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) and biosensors that monitor and deliver life-saving treatment for patients. Found in, on, or around the patient and running autonomously in real-time, these connected devices collect critical data to help the patient better understand the impact of his/her therapeutic conditions for a more proactive approach to diagnosis. As mobile/connected health and digital therapeutics based on wireless medical devices continue to evolve, however, wearable technology innovations bring about growing challenges to enabling trust and validation. As a result, these challenges are slowing adoption in healthcare delivery and research. ITEMS OF INTERESTHow Time-Sensitive Networking Benefits Fronthaul TransportIEEE 802.1CM™ Standard Connects Fronthaul Transport Networks via More Cost-effective Packet Ethernet SolutionEthernet networking technology has continually evolved to meet increasingly demanding requirements ever since its invention nearly 50 years ago, and its latest enhancement is the ability to perform Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). TSN will bring real-time monitoring, control, and communications capabilities to autonomous and other connected systems. Chip Shortage Challenges Maker ManufacturersAdafruit, SparkFun, and other wellsprings of amateur innovation face a new normal Much has been written about how the Great Global Semiconductor Shortage has affected automakers, game console manufacturers, and other companies making commercial products. But tinkerers, prototypers, artists, and students making their own projects are also getting hit hard.
