Hello 2013!

Am I the only one who found it hard to go back to work after the Christmas break? Kev and I had a wonderful few weeks with our children whilst HF was closed and we thank you all for your patience during our annual closure.

Now, however, our noses are now firmly back to the grindstone. Dameon is back in the office busy shipping out your orders and Kev is securely tied to his sculpting chair.  If they are good boys and behave themselves I might give them another break at Easter!

New Pretties on the way!

I am going to briefly touch on the new releases coming up but will have some more 'HF' news in the next newsletter. The first mould with the first set of 2013 releases is on its way to be production-cast.  It features a suave and suited Secret Agent, a Post-Apoc female swinging a hammer, a Fantasy Female with her foot on an axe and a Special Ops Near-Modern Trooper.

Cute Chicks and a 'Kickstarter!'

This promises to be an eventful year as alongside our own releases we are also involved in 2 external contrasting projects, both of which will require participation and support from you guys to make them a success.  I have detailed them below for you.  Now is the time where you can shape something in the industry, don't let the opportunity slide!

What lies beyond the gates of Antares?

Dark Space Corp, Kickstarter project.

"Ever wanted to help design and create a new science fiction wargame universe with Rick Priestley?"

Okay, well now is the time to start thinking about it.  Dark Space Corp need backers via a Kickstarter programme to help shape the development of a new game.

I could fill out pages of what they have to offer (and it seriously looks amazing)  but at the end of the day Kev is already sculpting some of the figures so you know it is going to be fabulous and with the unassuming brilliance of Rick Priestley (the creator of Warhammer 40K) thrown in to help back Kevs highly detailed sculpting you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

"Kickstarter can be utilised in many different ways, and one of the ways is to get new ideas off the ground that wouldn't normally get the chance, which is what our kickstarter is all about.

We’re here so that we can see if you are interested in not only backing us to fund the project but also if you’re interested in helping us develop the game rules, artwork, miniature range, tactical abilities, scenery, vehicles and everything else. We already know much of the initial design and we want to work with a unique set of enthusiasts with the vision to fund it and help us make it the best wargame experience that exists.

Simply put: we NEED you!"

Below is a taster of what Kev has been working on for them so far.  If you want to see more then follow their links for the updates.

Curious to see the creation process from Kev?

Hansa Nairobi

front view of Hansa Nairobi

Hansa Nairobi  is a human mercenary / gun-runner / bounty-hunter.

Part of the role that the project needs you for is to shape the characters and the Universe.  This is their forum  topic on Hansa Nairobi.

Why not go have a browse , it is a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground level to shape something new and exciting.

'Boudi' by Matt Dixon

Boudicca

Isn't she gorgeous!  Original artwork is by Matt Dixon. She is the beautiful mascot of an ambitious new gaming event that has its first run on April 7th 2013 and we have the licence to produce 'Boudi' (as she is affectionately known)  in various poses over the next few years.  Kev does so love a good Fantasy Chick to play with!

This is what organiser Lee Lowe has to say on the subject ...

"Diceni is a gaming event that will be held in the Forum Norwich, Norfolk on the 7th April 2013. The aim of Diceni is to promote every aspect of gaming including tabletop, card and boardgames, LARP, Cosplay and RPG.

Diceni will be open free to the public to come along and find out about gaming in all its varied and interesting forms. We will be covering historical, Sci Fi and fantasy genre’s with many participation and demo games on display.

As well as this we are hoping to have living history and a local Sci Fi group in costume as many of Sci Fi’s most well known characters.

Diceni is also about bringing the gaming community together, to help promote your club or group and your future events!"

Kev and I think it is important to support new events which is why we are helping to promote Diceni.  As with everything in this world, if it doesn't get support then it disappears.  Getting the next generation interested and involved is the only way our hobby will survive so if you can get along then please do.  In the meantime you can help by ''sharing' and 'liking' their page on Facebook.  They don't have a huge advertising budget and need your help.

Kev has started work on her this week so keep checking back to our workbench pages to see how she is getting along.

GET INVOLVED

and finally ...

The links for the polls to vote for your favourites in  the sculpting competition should be sent out this weekend.  Creatively a fantastic collection of sculptures, each time I view the images and entries I am awed by the skill and talent involved, thank you all for participating.  Logistically, however, I will admit it has been an administrative nightmare...lol!   You can view most of the entries here

Hopefully we have got there now!  Thanks lots for your patience, as always your support for us is totally appreciated.

Sally :)
