We’re getting there.
We’re doing really well funding our Little Fish book. Over 200 people have pledged, we’ve hit 58% of our target and we still have 17 days to go.
Thank you to those of you who have pledged. You know who you are. And so does everyone else, because there’s a public list. That list will also get printed in the back of the book, as a permanent record of the brave souls who sacrificed so much to improve the net cultural worth of a nation being slowly eaten alive by reality TV.

Where do you stand?
There are people who see crowdfunding as glorified begging. I suppose it is, in the same way that all marketing is glorified begging. But it’s not just about the money. Unbound is giving you, the audience, the power to decide which books get published.
On a small scale it’s about me and my band being able to give a talented author the chance to have her words published in a beautiful hardback. But think big! This is about filling our culture with stuff that’s interesting and exciting instead of stuff that has a guaranteed Return On Investment.
You already fund X-Factor by giving them the viewing figures they need to sell the adverts in the break. You already fund thousands of crappy self-help books and copycat blockbuster novels by buying the stuff they put in the window display. We all do, because it’s easy and satisfying to know that we like the same stuff that everyone else likes.
I know I’m a bit of an idealist, but I was convinced that if you gave people the choice they would choose to support independent artists. If we don’t reach our target I will be really disappointed. :(

Make a difference
All it takes is £10 to support the book and get your name in the back. To stand up and be counted. To join the Resistance. To fight the monoculture monolith. To give a young author her first break.
Just go to the Unbound website and pledge.
If you have a problem with paying for things on the Internet or using websites or anything like that, just email me and I’ll sort you out. I’ll come round to your house and collect the tenner personally if you like.
