Shout Out is happening!!

It has been an energising start to Shout Out - a public speaking program for refugee and migrant young people. Shout Out is aimed at equipping young people with the skills to share their stories and issues they are passionate about to their communities effectively.

The young people are currently preparing for a closing event that will bring representatives from across organisations within the sector together for their talks and presentations.

Shout Out is a MYAN WA initiative, funded by the Office of Multicultural Interests.

Journey to Here

A playful encounter with culture shock.

In this series of workshops based on Theatre of the Oppressed, participants will explore their experiences of culture shock and cultural difference through games and theatre exercises finishing with an interactive performance for the community. Participants will learn acting skills, share stories and meet new people in a supportive environment.

Robin Davidson from Rebus Theatre will run the workshops. Robin is an experienced theatre director who has supported a wide range of communities to tell their stories using theatre, in Australia, Sri Lanka and Timor Leste.

Workshops are for young people from diverse migrant backgrounds (ages 18 – 25). While some flexibility is possible, participants will need to make a firm commitment to attending the workshops. No previous acting experience is necessary.
