Newsletter

Wednesday March 8, 2017

Dear Friends, Supporters and Students,

I am excited to send you our first newsletter of the New Year with a number of exciting updates from ECF. We start our new year adding new members to our executive committee. I’d like to welcome back Travis Lunn, Vice President of Hotel Operations of MGM Grand Las Vegas as ECF Vice President and introduce Craig Gilbert, Partner of Drive This! Entertainment as ECF Vice President, Kevin Ball, Corporate Vice President Purchasing - Strategic Sourcing for American Casino & Entertainment Properties, LLC, as ECF Treasurer, and Tim Bowen, Vice President of Food & Beverage of Paris Resort and Casino, Bally’s Resort and Casino, and Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, as ECF Secretary.

The new year has already provided the foundation with another great event. Our Mentorship Matters VIP Appreciation Dinner was held on January 26th at Bally’s Las Vegas. The evening was a wonderful way for us to show our appreciation to the donors, sponsors, supporters and students who made M.E.N.U.S. 2016 a huge success and pay homage to honoree Bill Foley III, owner of Las Vegas’ first NHL team, the Vegas Golden Knights. The evening included an award presentation to 2016’s top sponsors, including, MGM Resorts International, Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, Corby Hall, BreakThru Beverage of Nevada, Anheuser-Busch, E&J Gallo, FIJI Water, Johnson Brothers, and Nevada Beverage.

Highlights of the evening were speeches given by honoree, Bill Foley and ECF graduate and Director of Hotel Operations for Caesars Palace, Martha Morales. Mr. Foley’s passionate words on his vision for the Vegas Golden Knights brought excitement and civic pride to all of those in the room as he positions Las Vegas on the map as a major-league city. Martha’s story made us laugh and cry and ended with a surprise invitation for her to join the ECF Board of Directors. ECF is proud to have gone full circle with our first alumni to join the ranks.

Our 2nd Annual ECF Golf Tournament invites you to “swing for scholarships” at Red Rock Country Club’s Private Mountain Course on Monday, May 8th. ECF welcomes Watering Hole Sponsors: Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits and BreakThru Beverage, and supporters: Top Golf, M&M Cleaners, The Platinum, Terlato Artisan Spirits, Las Vegas Golf & Leisure, Fiji Water, South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, Waxie, Premier Incentive, Pure Promotions and Advertising, and Roadshow Logistics.  More information is shared below!

Scholarship season is now upon us and we encourage everyone to help spread the word to deserving local high school students. Our application and all corresponding information may be found at www.ecflv.org with a deadline of Thursday, March 13th. We are looking for the next group of talented, motivated students to take the first step in becoming a future leader of the Las Vegas hospitality industry.

As always, the success of our students and graduates would not be possible without your continued support. Through donations, participation in M.E.N.U.S. and other fundraising events we are able to change the lives of young people in our community and positively impact one of the city’s most prominent industries. More information, news and updates may be found at www.ecflv.org or following on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @EpicureanLV.

All the best,

Michael Kennedy
