The first round of Te Tahua Whakakaha | Cultural Sector Capability Fund is now open and will close at 5pm on Tuesday 9 February 2021. The Capability Fund makes $12 million in contestable funding available over two years to help the cultural sector adapt to the COVID-19 environment. About the first round The first round is open for applications from cultural sector leadership organisations to deliver projects that build skills and knowledge, or provide access to advice, services, tools or resources. By targeting cultural sector leadership organisations, we aim to leverage existing connections and expertise and encourage collaboration to benefit a wide group of organisations and individuals within the sector. Cultural sector leadership organisations can apply for seed funding or for a ready-to-go project. After round one, we will review the settings and may refine our approach for future funding rounds. How to apply Guidance and information on how to apply is available on the Manatū Taonga website. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Tuesday 9 February 2021. Progress with Te Tahua Whakamarohi i te Rāngai Ahurea | Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund Work on the other initiatives that make up Te Tahua Whakamarohi i te Rāngai Ahurea | Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund continues to progress. Te Tahua Whakahaumaru | Creative Arts Recovery and Employment (CARE) Fund is expected to open early next year and Te Tahua Āki Auahatanga | Cultural Sector Innovation Fund shortly afterwards. Screen fund launched to tell New Zealand’s stories, globallyOn Saturday 5 December, the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Hon Carmel Sepuloni launched the $50 million Premium Productions for International Audiences Fund at the Big Screen Symposium in Auckland. Using reallocated funding, the Premium Productions Fund is a golden opportunity for the sector to capitalise on the worldwide demand for content and New Zealand’s current production advantage due to our success containing COVID-19.
