Nowness - Massimo Bottura

I was commissioned by NOWNESS.com - LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (wow!) luxury web magazine to fly to Milan and shoot world renowned chef Massimo Bottura at his two star restaurant Osteria Francescana. They had seen the work Daniel Carlsten and I did for the Åke Carlsten series, and wanted in on the game. Once again, Daniel and I set out on a quest to redefine food photography.

Three days later, we had this. Buon Appetito.

Fredells

Fredells

As a family business in the fourth generation, Fredells has provided the Stockholm region with wood and building products ever since 1903. I got the honourable assignment to do a complete overhaul of their now outdated image bank in the style of my previous work done for Brämhults.

Everything from the "Oh I need a new kitchen!"-consumer side to the professional world of milling, prefab and planning services was to be documented. In other words, the whole Fredells - from soup to nuts.

Done together with Volontaire.

The initial assignment was a classic one. Shoot a product image per student, for their exhibition catalogue. I instead suggested to give each student a half hour of time and one roll of film.

The idea was to improvise 36 images, treating each project individually. Some students had finished prototypes, and others had just sketches. A full day was divided into thirteen 30 min segments - one per student - and 13 rolls of film was shot. Each student got all the pictures on the roll.

The result is a generous flow of images, rather than a solitary product image. Each student got an extensive 'digital press kit', instead of a single image to be shared. Lots of love.

More?

More?

First: let's be honest for a while. I'm booked for one large production before summer, and I would love to do one or two more things before this season ends. Do you have a great client that would benefit from authentic imagery? Don't hesitate to get in touch. In plain text, I'm looking for (a bit more) work before summer, both advertising and editorial.

If you have a legit story to tell, you're my dream client.

Second: I've shot a ton of new stuff beside the things already mentioned. Above is a small sneak peak. I'll tell you more when I can. And, for what it's worth: don't miss the blog.

Last: Thanks for having me in mind.
