"LIKE" the new Academy of Lifelong Learning Facebook page!

The Academy now has a new Facebook page that functions as an organizational page rather than a personal page. It is very easy for our friends to find now.  Stay up on what's happening with the Academy by searching EIU Academy of Lifelong Learning on Facebook or by following the link below.  The former page will be deactivated February 28, 2014.

Join the Illinois Yellow Dot Program

The Illinois Yellow Dot Program is an initiative designed to provide vital medical information on vehicle drivers and passengers in the event of an accident. Filling out and carrying a Yellow Dot medical card will assist first responders in treating drivers/passengers during the "Golden Hour," or the crucial hour immediately following a traumatic injury.

For more information on the Yellow Dot Program visit yellowdotillinois.org.

Wednesday, March 19

Join us at 11 a.m. at Cody's Roadhouse in Mattoon for lunch with the Academy of Lifelong Learning group from Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC)!  Buy $1 raffle tickets to win a wine gift basket at the luncheon.

After lunch and discussion about our similar programs and new ideas, we will drive to the Mattoon Train Depot from 1-3 p.m. to view the exhibition of quilts by Gee's Bend quilters Gloria Hoppins, Lucy Mingo, Revil Mosely, China Pettway, Mary Ann Pettway, and Lucy Witherspoon.

The women will present a program of stories and sacred songs of living in the rural south during the Great Depression, through the Civil Rights Movement, and into today. Quilted items from the Gee's Bend Quilt Collective will be available for purchase with a variety of prices. Refreshments will be provided.
