PHILPPA STROUD ON "THE NEXT AGENDA IN THE POLITICAL CYCLE"
Philippa Stroud, Executive Director of the Centre for Social Justice, spoke at the NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) event at the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform on 27 November 2008. Discussing "Planning ahead Looking at the next agenda in the political cycle" provided an opportunity to discuss and promote the policy work of the CSJ.

OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNMENT IN THE GUARDIAN
Iain Duncan Smith (Chairman of the CSJ) and Philippa Stroud (Executive Director of the CSJ) joined forces with Graham Allen (Labour MP for Nottingham North) and others this month by signing an open letter to the Government requesting Early Intervention in Primary Schools on 1 December 2008. The letter coincided with the publication of "Getting in Early: Primary Schools and Early Intervention" a joint publication between the CSJ and the Smith Institute. The publication is part of an effort to build cross party consensus behind the principles of Early Intervention. More

GUARDIAN, COMMENT IS FREE
Philippa Stroud debuted on Comment is Free this month, with an article on 2 December 2008 responding to the Baby P case. The commentary called for an improvement in children's services and lessons that can be learnt from the voluntary sector. In particular, the article highlighted the findings of the recently published CSJ report on the care system "Couldn't Care Less." Read the Guardian article here
