This Weekend's Pick

Wine of the Weekend

Nicolas Feuillatte Reserve Exclusive Brut Champagne

This is our last Wine of the Weekend for 2021, but before we go, we want to share our New Year’s Eve pick to close out the year. We’ll be counting down to midnight with our favourite Champagne in hand, Nicolas Feuillatte Brut! It also happens to be the #1 Champagne in France, a great match for your holiday table, and is $5 off until January 2! Need we say more? Have a safe and happy holiday season until we bring you more great wine finds in 2022!

Tasting Notes: Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne is a fresh and vibrant expression of the style: citrus, juicy pear, apple and fresh bread all dance across your taste buds amidst elegant bubbles. A pulse of minerality beats alongside the ripe fruit notes, stretching out over a long finish.

Enjoy With: Appetizers like oysters, smoked salmon canapés or ripe cheeses, and main dishes using seafood or roasted white meats (hello, turkey). It also tastes great after a 10 second countdown.

Style: A dry, crisp, elegant sparkling wine.

Terroir/Region: The Champagne region consists of several valleys and sub-regions, and over time the proper grape has found its home in each place. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier make up the traditional blend of Champagne. Pinot Noir builds body, elegance, and perfume, Chardonnay brings fresh acidity and structure, and Pinot Meunier adds richness and fruit. Nicolas Feuillatte uses a balance of all three.

Producer: The Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne house was founded by the man himself, Nicolas Feuillatte, but after he met Henri Macquart it expanded into one of the most important co-ops in Champagne. It became a place where growers could learn and make wine together instead of selling their grapes to one of the larger houses. This practice helps create a high-quality wine encapsulating the flavours of the entire Champagne region and the knowledge of its growers.

Availability: Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne is available in the sparkling wine section of your local LCBO and for online ordering. It’s $5.00 off until January 2, so move fast to get yours. Happy new year (almost)!
