JPS: The Jewish Publication Society

December, 2012

Dear Friends of JPS,

We hope you had a joyous Hanukkah. On the sixth night of Hanukkah JPS held a wonderful event at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the JPS Torah translation and to honor the work of its editor, Dr. Harry Orlinksy, z"l.

I am also happy to report to you that the “new” JPS is alive and well, as we conclude a momentous year of transition. Our partnership with the University of Nebraska Press has given us a new lease on life.

We continue our mission to enhance Jewish literacy through the publication of great books. JPS books are substantial works of Jewish scholarship, requiring significant resources. All our projects rely on the generosity of donors like you who believe in our mission.

For a gift of $1800 or more we invite you to attach your name to the donor page of our upcoming books. Please consider a JPS title dedication this year; it is a unique way to honor a loved one by contributing to Jewish scholarship and learning.Contributions of any amount will be gratefully acknowledged because they help enhance our mission as the only truly not-for-profit, trans-denominational publisher of great books for the People of the Book.

Details of all our books, past, present and future can be found at www.jps.org.

As we enter our 125th year as the nation’s oldest Jewish publisher, we thank you for your support.
