A unique, first-class education

A unique, first-class education

We are delighted to share with you some of the many exciting activities that children, teachers and parents have been enjoying at Braywick Court School during our first half term.

It has been fantastic meeting many prospective parents and children at our Open Fridays and giving them a taste of the unique and first-class education being enjoyed by our Reception children in Squirrel Class. The feedback we have received has been so encouraging and we are now operating a waiting list for those eager to join Squirrel Class!

Developing a love for learning

Developing a love for learning

Our curriculum is broad and balanced with a focus on reading, writing and maths. Linked to a half-termly theme, lessons are always delivered in a fun and engaging way and our personalised approach means that we can tailor learning to each pupil's requirements. It is wonderful to see the children establishing friendships, growing in confidence, developing core skills and a love for learning so quickly.

Learning at Braywick Court School takes place outside the classroom environment as much as it does within it, whatever the weather, and we are incredibly fortunate to have immediate access to the Nature Reserve. Highlights so far include squelching through the mud on our bear hunt and a Halloween bat hunt!

An active partnership

An active partnership

We believe that education should be an active partnership between the parent and the school. As such, parents and carers are encouraged to build a deep relationship with the school and its staff and all parents are invited to join the Friends of Braywick Court PTA.

Parents meetings, held once a term, give parents the opportunity to find out how their child has settled in, how they are achieving in all areas of their learning and what they can do to support their child at home. Reading workshops give parents the opportunity to learn about the structured but fun way we teach reading and phonics.

Our fundraising activities have been extremely well supported by our families, with an incredible £285 raised in our ‘Ready Steady Read’ and book fair and a further £200 raised for Macmillan at our coffee afternoon and cake sale. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children, bought books, made cakes and came along to the events.

Proposed North and South elevations

The refurbished Phase One area of our school provides a large, flexible, open plan learning environment for our first year of operation and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

We have taken on board feedback from the local community and have recently consulted on our revised proposals for Phase Two of the site which will complete the school and incorporate the existing Braywick Nature Centre building.

The proposal seeks to create an infill extension linking the former Winbury Preparatory School and Braywick Nature Centre sites to enable our school to create a high quality teaching and learning environment both for pupils and staff.

A new purpose-built nature centre will be provided within the nature reserve, creating a new community facility that is in keeping with its sensitive location and in close proximity to key features of interest.
