View Your COVID-19 Vaccination Records on Apple Health
Sync Your MyChart Account with Apple Health App
You can quickly access your COVID-19 vaccination and other HM health records in the Apple Health app when it’s synced with your MyChart account. If you’re already using the app to track your physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness or sleep, this provides an easy way to see your MyChart data without opening an additional app. All COVID-19 vaccines provided at an HM facility are included in your health record. - Existing patients: View this in MyChart through the Immunizations tab.
- New or non-HM patients: Sign up in MyChart to view this record.
How to sync your MyChart account - From your mobile device, open the Apple Health app.
- Select Health Records, then click Get Started.
- Select Houston Methodist from the list of hospitals.
- Follow the prompts to log in to your Houston Methodist MyChart
account.
Once the account is synced, you’ll find COVID-19 vaccination details under Browse > Health Records > Immunizations. Existing HM patients - how to create a new MyChart account: - Request an activation link from an HM clinic or patient access representative. You can also call the HM Customer Service team at 832.667.5694.
- You should receive a message via email or text with an activation link.
- Click the
provided link and follow the instructions to create your account username and password.
New or non-HM patients - to create a new MyChart account: - Visit mychart.houstonmethodist.org and select Sign Up Now.
- Under No Activation Code, click Sign Up Now.
- Click the New Patient
sign up method and complete the form.

Are You Ready for the Feb. 21 Epic Update?
Review Your Update Companion to Know What's Changing
There’s just over a week until the Feb. 21 Epic Update. To prepare, be sure to review your Update Companion and understand the changes for your role. Highlights of top changes are included in a new section on the first page of your Update Companion. You'll also find summaries of other changes and workflow improvements, as well as guided activities you can practice in the Epic Playground. The review process is also much easier this year. You don’t need to click the
acknowledge button, and there are more ways to find your Companion. Visit the Epic Learning Home (press F1 on your keyboard while logged in to Epic) or the Epic Update page at it.houstonmethodist.org/epicupdate/. Reminders: - Staff with multiple roles may have more than one Learning Home and Companion. Be sure to review all the appropriate material for your roles.
- The Update Companion banner disappears after you click the Close button. To review a Companion again, or to view Companions for other roles, visit it.houstonmethodist.org/epicupdate/.
- Use the guided activities in your Update Companion to experience and practice new workflows in the Epic Playground. For instructions and a list of user IDs and passwords for all roles, view the Accessing the Epic Playground tip sheet.
- From Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 5 a.m. to Sunday, Feb. 21 at 4 a.m., some Epic functions will be unavailable, and no changes or enhancements will be made. You can still work in Epic as usual, but you won't be able to apply filters in Chart Review; create, edit and share NoteWriter macros, SmartPhrases and SmartLinks or create and edit In Basket QuickActions.

Please help your staff understand the top changes before the Feb. 21 Epic Update. Use these role-specific materials to help you communicate with your team during meetings, huddles and rounding.
For Corporate Employees (Except MOBs)
Update Home Address to Receive Your Mask
Action Requested by Friday, Feb. 12
Corporate employees will receive a new HM mask later this month, mailed to the home address listed in MARS. If needed, update your home address by noon tomorrow. Log in to MARS. - Select the Personal Details tile.
- If your home address is correct, you
have no further action. If incorrect, click on it and update your address.
- Click Save.
MOB Employees: MOB leadership will distribute your masks at work.

Effective Sunday, Feb. 21On Sunday, Feb. 21, SecureAuth, one of our identity security solutions, is getting upgraded. This will not affect your current workflow, but over 100 applications using the SecureAuth authentication method will look a little different. This includes apps like Caregility, DocuSign, GE Encompass, WELL Health, Apps Center, HM Self-Service password reset, etc. Example: HM Self-Service

Rover Zebra Smartphone Update: Keep Phones Charged and Turned on
Downtime, All Hospitals Except HMH:
Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1 – 3 a.m.The Rover Zebra smartphone upgrade is Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1 – 3 a.m. for all hospitals except HMH. Be sure your Zebra smartphone is turned on with the battery charged before your downtime. Otherwise, your phone won’t receive the Feb. 21 Epic Update and won’t function properly. Your individual downtime – five to 10 minutes - Your individual downtime will last about five to 10 minutes. Rover will drop what you have in progress. When you log back in, Rover will prompt you about
incomplete work. You can then continue documenting where you left off.
- You can still use your phone for calls but use Epic on workstations for documentation.
After the upgrade - Activate Rover. For the End User License Agreement, tap Accept.
- Login with your HM username and password.
What’s new - Updated Rover app and phone directories.
- Added password security – entire password is hidden.

Complete Training by Friday, Feb. 19On Sunday, Feb. 21, the new Epic Rehab module launches for outpatient rehab — streamlining documentation, reporting and billing into Epic, making your workflows easier and more efficient. With the Epic Rehab module, you’ll have: - Fewer manual processes.
- Better evaluation and treatment flow.
- Improved management reports for rehab clinical operational needs.
- Clinical and functional metrics.
- Ability to stay up to date on compliance and regulatory requirements.
Training and Support
To make sure you are prepared, we’re providing LMS training. You should have received an email outlining training required for your role. You can also click the applicable link below for details on role-specific training and training resources, including required LMS modules, WebEx recordings and tip sheets. Effective Now Starting today, you will see a COVID-19 Vaccine Status Info link on Storyboard for hospitalized patients. This will allow you to quickly identify COVID-19 vaccine status (not received, received one dose or received both doses).
- Patient with no COVID-19 Vaccine documented:
- Patient with one COVID-19 Vaccine dose administered/documented:
- Patient with one COVID-19 Vaccine dose administered/documented and COVID-19 Vaccine second-dose appointment scheduled:

New Navigation Links Added to Results Print Groups
Effective Sunday, Feb. 21With the Epic Update on Sunday, Feb. 21, you will notice new navigation links added to Results Print Groups. Since these are often lengthy documents that are hard to navigate, the new links help you easily see number of result notes, patient communications and follow-up encounters on a lab result and use links to jump to those specific sections.

Sunday, Feb. 21 from 2 to 4 a.m.In preparation for the Update, Epic will experience a planned downtime on Sunday, Feb. 21, from 2 to 4 a.m. During the downtime, access Epic Read-Only. Note: Data in Epic Read-Only is current until the downtime begins. You can’t document or place orders in Epic Read-Only. For more details, review the Planned Downtime Instructions.
Systemwide Network Maintenance
Thursday, Feb. 11, 9 p.m. – Friday, Feb. 12, 3 a.m.
Epic, Lab, PACS, Pharmacy and internet: Be prepared for intermittent slowness and access issues, lasting up to five seconds. If you experience issues, including missing computer icons or shared drives, shut down your computer and restart. Save your work often before and during this maintenance.
Cisco Desktop and wireless phones
Saturday, Feb. 13, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. (HMCCH) Saturday, Feb. 20, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. (HMW) During this timeframe you may notice a few seconds of disruption to your phone. The phones will reboot automatically and will not disrupt phones already in progress.
Saturday, Feb. 13, 10 p.m. – Sunday, Feb. 14, 5 a.m. LMS will not be available due to maintenance.
Tuesday, Feb. 16, 10 p.m. – midnight Be prepared for intermittent or no access. Follow your department’s standard downtime procedures.
