Calling all undergraduate researchers and aspiring researchers. We want you to attend NCUR 2016 in Asheville, North Carolina, April 7-9, 2016! If you have a research project to present (either at the methodology or results stage), submit your abstract before Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

Pursuit Accepting Submissions


Pursuit is currently accepting research paper submissions from all disciplines for the Spring 2016 edition (Volume 7, Issue 1). The priority deadline for submissions is December 1, 2015.

Represent UT at the Undergraduate Awards

Held in Dublin, Ireland each year, the Undergraduate Awards recognizes undergraduate research and creative activity across the globe. Open to the classes of 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Submission is free and is as simple as filling in a form online. You can submit up to 3 pieces of coursework across the 25 categories. The chosen piece must have received a grade of A- or higher.  

Students chosen in the top 10% will represent UT at the awards ceremony in Dublin, Ireland in November 2016. Current students will receive travel scholarships to attend.

EXPLORE - database of undergraduate research opps


EXPLORE is UT’s new database of undergraduate research opportunities. Students can use EXPLORE to search for faculty by academic department, view available on-campus research positions, and view off-campus research opportunities.

Positions are listed as paid, volunteer, or for academic credit.

New opportunities will be added throughout the year, so keep checking back!

Summer Internship Applications Open in January

Want to conduct research this summer with a UT faculty member?  The Office of Undergraduate Research funds a summer internship program to promote research and creative activity among undergraduate students. All current full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the Knoxville campus are eligible to apply.

Upcoming Travel Grant Deadlines


The Office of Undergraduate Research has limited funds to support students who wish to attend key conferences and events. The office will provide travel grant funding for the following events in 2015-16:

Posters on the Hill, April date TBD (Abstract submission and travel grant application are combined: October 22)  

Posters at the Capitol, February 24, 2016 (Abstract submission and travel grant application are combined: November 6)   

National Conference of Undergraduate Research, April 7-9 (Abstract Deadline: December 2)
