Fiona Stanley Hospital survey shows serious concern

A survey conducted by the AMA (WA) on Fiona Stanley Hospital has been very well recieved, with over 660 doctors responding.

A significant amount of responses expressed wide-ranging concern over the commissioning of the new hospital, and also raise serious questions about continuing quality of management.

Given the survey results, the AMA (WA) is currently making arrangements for a meeting of all doctors to be held at Fiona Stanley Hospital to seek advice about future strategies.

Details about the meeting will be emailed to you separately in the near future.

Ongoing Medicare rebate freeze sends a shiver through patients and medical practices

Federal AMA President, Professor Brian Owler, has said that the ongoing indexation freeze of Medicare patient rebates is placing further pressure on the viability of many medical practices, especially general practices, and forcing patients to pay higher out-of-pocket costs for their health care.

While the Medicare rebate indexation remains at zero, the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) is at 1.3 per cent, the Wage Price Index (WPI) is at 2.3 per cent, and the ABS reports an increase in Hospital and Medical Costs of 6.5 per cent.

“The rebate indexation freeze is a co-payment by stealth, and it is currently planned to continue until 1 July 2018. The freeze is delivering savings of $1.3 billion over four years to the Government. This funding shortfall has to be met by patients and practices,” Professor Owler said.

VR’d GP to work in Western Suburbs practice with excellent facilities

We’re working with a small local practice who have a vacant consulting room, treatment room, nursing support and patients to ready for you to see.

The population includes a high proportion of elderly, and it would be beneficial to do home visits. This is a permanent opportunity, working in a mixed billing environment and can be on either full-time or part-time basis.

Contact Dave Bell to discuss on 9273 3000 or via email.

After-hours work - all areas of Perth Metro

We are working with a Home Deputising Service requiring Doctors who are available to cover a range of weekday evenings and weekend shifts. This is very well paid work and can help broaden your clinical exposure.

Previous experience in similar After Hours, or Out of Hours settings will be very beneficial. Positions ideally suit VR’d GPs.

If this is something that you are interested in, please contact Dave Bell to discuss on 9273 3000.
