Friends,

Nearly five years ago we had the idea of bringing a unique retail store to Halifax.  We fell in love with our location on Barrington St. and we really wanted to be part of the resurgence of the neighbourhood, to a certain extent, I think we were.

Of course, we were also opening a retail store at the beginning of a recession, in a non-traditional location, and at a time when more and more products are being bought online or at big box retailers.

Despite those challenges, many of you embraced our concept and we had some fun bringing new products to Halifax, hosting events to spur new product development in Nova Scotia and hosting pop-up stores for up and coming small businesses in Nova Scotia.

Unfortunately, we also made mistakes - and we failed in our goal of continuing to bring you new and exciting products - a goal that must be met in order to remain a sustainable business.

As we approached the expiry of our lease, we evaluated where we are both financially and where we are in delivering a unique, rewarding experience for our customers.  The result of that evaluation is that we have decided to not renew our lease at 1235 Barrington St. and today we are starting the liquidation of our remaining inventory.

Starting today all remaining inventory is on sale at 50% off with the exception of Lost Cod Clothing items which are 25% off.

We've always said that Carbonstok is a retail experiment, with the goal of a constantly evolving, robust business model.  Will there be a Carbonstok 2.0?  Perhaps, but for now we are just going to park this little project and will focus on our other endeavors.

Thank you for your patronage over the past five years - be sure to pop in to say goodbye to Catherine & Nick who have worked so hard to make Carbonstok what it was.
