The Ongar Academy proves a popular choice 

Message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Supporters,

The team and I have been delighted to meet over 500 prospective parents, carers and children at our recent Open Days held at the Academy’s confirmed site next to The Ongar Leisure Centre. This overwhelming support, coupled with the fact that The Ongar Academy is on track to be oversubscribed when applications close this Saturday 31st January, demonstrates the undeniable demand for our school.

We are also fortunate to have received significant interest from professionals interested in working at The Ongar Academy and our Staff Recruitment Fair, held last Saturday, attracted over 70 teachers and support staff. So far, nearly 200 highly qualified staff have registered online with us. I have no doubt we will be spoilt for choice as we recruit the high quality staff our students deserve.

Apply for a Year 7 place by Saturday 31st January

An application to The Ongar Academy is a risk-free choice for 2015 as applications are made in addition to the usual Local Authority process. This gives parents and carers the chance to be offered two places on National Offer Day on 2nd March, one from The Ongar Academy and one through the Local Authority. They can then choose which to accept.

Application numbers are extremely strong, especially from the schools most local to us, but it is not too late for parents to submit an application. Those wishing to apply for a Year 7 place for September 2015 can do so via our website by 31st January 2015.

We’re recruiting!

The Ongar Academy seeks to recruit the highest calibre of staff in all areas of the school and we are currently advertising for the following positions:

• Assistant Headteacher
• Faculty Leader: Maths & Computing
• Subject Leader: French or Spanish
• Subject Leader: Computing

The closing date for job applications is 5th February 2015.

PSA success

The newly-formed Parent and Supporters' Association (PSA) signed up an incredible 37 new members at our recent Open Days. These parents and other members of the community will work together on local teams led by the founding members of the PSA to support and promote The Ongar Academy in your area.

Our Information Centre, located at 172 High Street, Ongar, is now open from 9.00am - 4.30pm, from Monday to Friday (other times available by arrangement).
