Update on the New SQF Code edition 9

Contributed by Anne Cooper, Food Technical Manager

SQFI released the following information in June at the CB meeting, regarding the upcoming edition 9 of the SQF Code:

  • The public comment period is occurring from now until July 31; click here to review the draft and provide your comments.
  • Training materials and audit tools will be revised in Qtr 3-Qtr 4.
  • The final edition 9 codes will be published in October 2020.
  • Auditing to the code will begin in May 2021.

The new SQF code will have a completely new look, with fewer sections, fewer question elements, and the addition of several new requirements to comply with updated GFSI benchmarking for 2020.

Please share this information with others, and review the draft codes and take your opportunity to provide input before the Code becomes finalized!
