December 2013

It's that special time of year when friends and family gather and merry cheer is in the air.  This month meet our new friend, get some great gift ideas, find out the winners of the 4th Annual SkeenaWild Film Fest, read our 2013 Year in Review and get set to Party!

Meet Skeena Claws

He’s furry, he’s funny, he’s feisty and sometimes he’s ferocious!  He’s Skeena Claws y’all and he’s *WILD* for wild salmon.

Like many of you, he calls the Northwest home and makes it a point to ask questions, seek answers and do what it takes to protect and preserve the Skeena Watershed.

Join Skeena Claws for Supper in his premiere video and find out what questions he asks to ensure his meal is supporting a sustainable food system.

SW's Holiday Gift Guide

Looking for a meaningful and practical gift idea?  Here are our Top Holiday Gift Picks for 2013:

Our holiday gifts truly give back to the watershed for generations to come.  Come on down to the newly re-vamped and freshly re-stocked SkeenaWild General Store located at the SW Headquarters - 4505 Greig Ave. Terrace.

Funds raised from our merchandise sales go into research, education and community building.  Help us turn our passion for conservation of the Skeena Watershed into opportunities for discovery and positive change.

4th Annual SkeenaWild Film Festival

We couldn’t have asked for a more talented group of artists and enthusiastic bunch of participants to take part in the 4th Annual SWFF.  With over 150+ submissions, we took the show to five communities within the watershed where over 600+ lively people watched and cast their votes for their faves.  From humorous accounts of life in Northwest British Columbia, to in-depth explorations of what it means to look after the people, culture and land of the Skeena, these stories educated, entertained and elicited genuine emotion.

The votes from the Northwest Tour have been tallied and the results are in … drum roll please...

We would like to recognize and thank everyone who contributed to our efforts this past year.  Our vision and strategy has continued to be shaped with your input and the direction of our Board of Trustees, partners and stakeholders.  From collaborative efforts to conserve, protect and rebuild our wild salmon and steelhead populations to community engagement initiatives that inform, educate, create awareness and encourage feedback, we have put our best foot forward to address these many challenges, identify solutions and get results.  We think you'll be proud of our accomplishments.  Click here to Read "Reflections: 2013 Year in Review", a categorized overview of our key projects.
