START PACKING!Essential Items for your Room Think about how you live now, and how much you really need to feel at home. Your new room at PLU may be smaller than your room at home, and you may share it with another student. So, not every item may fit. Check out this list of suggested things to prepare for your new room to make PLU your new home. Clothing Tacoma's climate varies from warm and dry in the summer to cloudy, rainy, and cool in the winter, so you will want to bring a wide range of clothing with you. You will need winter garments such as a heavy coat or jacket, boots, gloves, hats and rain gear. You will also need summer garments such as shorts, sandals and t-shirts. Most importantly, bring clothes and shoes that you are going to be comfortable with. Students usually dress casually on campus. Still not sure what to bring? During orientation we will organize trips to local shopping malls so that you can purchase anything you forgot or weren't able to fit in your suitcase. Important Documents You should carry the following documents with you on the airplane rather than packing them in your checked luggage:
Prescriptions and Medical Records If you require any prescription medication or eye-wear, be sure to bring them with you. It is also a good idea to bring an extra supply of any medicines that you are used to using at home, an extra set of eyeglasses or contact lenses, and for your doctor to provide a copy of the prescriptions. If you have any health concerns or medical conditions, bring a copy of medical, dental, and/or immunization records. Worried about setting up phone service in the US?
